Should my new site stay narrow or go broad?
Q: I have ideas across travel, finance, and cooking. Can I just build one big site, or do I need to pick one?
A: Short answer: pick one narrow lane to start. Longer answer: a new site has no authority to spend, so spreading across three unrelated topics tells Google you're not really an expert at any of them. A tight focus lets you build recognizable topical authority fast, which is what gets young sites out of the evaluation window sooner.
What "narrow" looks like early on:
— not "finance" but "budgeting for new parents"
— enough subtopics for 40-60 posts
— room to expand outward later from strength
Go deep on one thing, earn trust, THEN branch. Broad-from-day-one is the slowest path I know.
Anyone want me to go deeper on this? React 👍
