What actually counts as "thin content"?
Q: People keep saying thin content hurts. How do I know if MY posts are thin?
A: Short answer: thin isn't about length — it's about whether the page adds anything the searcher couldn't already get. Longer answer: a 300-word page that perfectly answers a precise question isn't thin. A 1,500-word page that rephrases the top 3 results and offers zero original insight IS thin. The test is uniqueness of value, not size.
Signs a page is thin:
— nothing on it you couldn't copy from competitors
— no first-hand experience, examples, or data
— exists mainly to target a keyword, not help a person
Ask: if a reader had the top result open, would mine still be worth reading? If no, it's thin — regardless of word count.
Anyone want me to go deeper on this? React 👍
