How long should my articles be to rank?
Q: Is there a word count I need to hit? My posts are 800 words and I'm worried that's too short.
A: Short answer: there's no magic number — write until the question is fully answered, then stop. Longer answer: word count isn't a ranking factor; it's a side effect of covering a topic properly. An 800-word post that completely satisfies a simple query will beat a padded 2,500-word one stuffed with fluff to "hit length."
A better gut-check than counting words:
— could a reader leave without needing to open another tab?
— did you answer the obvious follow-up questions?
— is anything there purely to lengthen it?
Match the depth the query deserves. "How to boil an egg" doesn't need 3,000 words, and padding it actively hurts.
Anyone want me to go deeper on this? React 👍
