<b>"Servers near you" matters less than they pretend</b>
Myth: <i>"I need a host with a datacenter in my city for speed."</i>
For a static, cached site, your origin location barely matters — a CDN serves most visitors from an edge node anyway. What actually kills speed is a slow PHP runtime, an unindexed database, and an oversold node where your CPU is contended. Geography is the explanation hosts love because it sells regional plans.
Follow the money: "local datacenter" is an easy, visible feature to market. "We don't oversell our nodes" is the feature that costs them money, so it's never mentioned.
Reality: They sell you a map pin to distract from the crowded box.
