Playbook: Diagnose Why You Lost the Box Overnight
09:15 UTC — We're hearing the same panic in DMs: box vanished, ranking held. Triage in this order before you touch the page:
— Check if the box still exists at all. Google kills ~40% of snippets it tests; you may have lost nothing.
— Compare your format to the new holder's. Para-to-list swap is the usual culprit.
— Diff your answer length against theirs — if they're tighter, length lost it.
— Verify the query didn't fragment into a sub-question Google now answers separately.
— Last: check freshness date. A competitor's fresher timestamp can flip it.
Why it matters: 4 of 5 'losses' are format or volatility, not a deeper problem. Don't rewrite blind.
