Every internal link uses the exact same anchor. That's a flag.
Client's cluster had 30 internal links all reading 'best VPN' pointing at the pillar. Looked optimized. Was actually a footprint — over-optimized anchors that read as manipulation, and it flattened the cluster's nuance.
Varied them and the pillar climbed:
— Mix exact-match with partial and natural phrases ('a solid VPN', 'VPNs for streaming')
— Let the surrounding sentence carry context, not just the anchor
— Same target, different doorways
Identical anchors everywhere screams robot. Write links like a human. Go vary them.
