You gave facts but missed what makes a story
Reporters aren't collecting facts; they're building a story. A reply full of accurate information but no angle gives them nothing to hang it on.
Think of it like handing someone bricks when they asked for a doorway.
1. Ask: what's surprising, counterintuitive, or contrarian about my answer?
2. Lead with that tension: "Most people do X, but the data says Y."
3. Then support it with your facts.
An angle is a point of view that makes a reader pause. "Email isn't dead — but the way most people use it is" is an angle. "Email is a tool" is not.
Try this today: Take your usual safe answer and find the part that would make a reader say "wait, really?" Lead with that.
