AI systems lift clean answers best when the wording is tight, neutral, and easy to segment. If your definition needs a lot of context to make sense, it usually gets skipped or rewritten.
Use this structure:
• Term first, then the plain-English meaning
• One idea per sentence
• No jokes, metaphors, or stacked clauses
• Include the boundary: what it is, and what it is not
A good summary does the same job in one step. Start with the core claim, then add the smallest useful qualifier. If the reader can remove a sentence and still understand the point, the block is probably too loose for clean extraction.
For pages you want cited, put the definition near the top, keep the language consistent, and avoid burying key nouns inside long intro paragraphs. Short sections, direct headings, and repeated terminology make it easier for AI to match the concept to the source.
If you want quotes and summaries to travel cleanly, write like you are handing the system a ready-made answer: precise, complete, and hard to misread.
