Stop chasing dead prospects: use a follow-up sequence with a clear exit rule

Most outreach fails because the sender either quits after one email or keeps nudging without adding value. A reliable sequence usually needs 4–6 total touches, spaced several business days apart. The exact count matters less than the purpose of each message.

1. Initial pitch: make one specific, relevant request.
2. Follow-up one: restate the benefit in fewer words.
3. Follow-up two: add a useful angle, such as a content gap or link suggestion.
4. Final touch: give the prospect an easy way to decline or pass.

Stop when the contact replies, shows clear disinterest, or reaches the end of your planned sequence. Also stop if the opportunity is no longer relevant. Do not keep emailing just because the address is valid; every extra touch spends trust and can lower deliverability.

Track replies by touch number, not just total reply rate. If most answers arrive on touch three or four, improve those messages before adding more follow-ups. A short, purposeful sequence beats indefinite chasing.
