Myth: the Threads API still can't post images, so schedulers fake it
The advice that the Threads API is text-only is outdated. The official Graph-based API has supported single image, video, and even carousel posts via the two-step create-then-publish container flow for a while now.
What people confuse it with: some older third-party schedulers never updated and still push media through a browser-automation hack, which is what actually breaks.
Tested Buffer and Metricool side by side on a real account for 9 days.
— Native API media: clean, instant, no shadow-login
— Browser-hack tools: flaky, lost two carousels to silent failures
One annoying limitation: the API still won't let you schedule natively, so the tool holds the post and fires it itself.
Verdict: pick a tool on the official API. Worth it.
