The feature he ignored for three years
Meet a pizzeria owner in Brooklyn who'd never once used Google Posts. "That's for big brands," he told me. Meanwhile his profile sat static while competitors looked alive.
We turned Posts into a weekly habit.
The playbook:
— Post once a week minimum — Google favors fresh activity
— Rotate three types: an offer, a new menu item, an event
— Lead every post with a local keyword: "Best Sicilian slice in Park Slope"
— Add a real photo, never stock
— Use the call-to-action button — "Order" or "Call" — and track clicks
Week one and two, the rankings didn't budge. He felt silly writing about garlic knots.
Week four something shifted — his profile views climbed 22 percent and the "Order" button clicks turned into actual delivery orders. The freshness signal plus the keyword-rich posts nudged him above a stale competitor.
The lesson: Google reads Posts as proof the business is active and relevant. The pizzeria that talks every week beats the one that went quiet in 2022.
