Geo Pulse #44 — Payout rails by GEO: which beats which
Theme: the offer converts, then the payment method silently halves your revenue.
— Cards (Visa/MC) → fine baseline for Tier-1, but in Brazil expect heavy decline rates; Pix has eaten card share for digital goods.
— Pix (BR) / UPI (IN) → near-mandatory now. If your offer's billing page lacks them, you're leaking 30-60% of approvals in those GEOs.
— Boleto (BR) / OXXO (MX) → cash-voucher rails. Lower instant conversion, but they capture buyers who'd otherwise abandon. Worth offering as a fallback, not a default.
— E-wallets (GCash PH, M-Pesa KE, Touch'n Go MY) → in much of SEA and East Africa these outrank cards entirely. Card-only checkout in Kenya is a non-starter.
Lesson: a 'low-converting GEO' is often just a missing local rail. Audit the billing page before blaming the traffic.
