Search Console vs your rank tracker — one lies about snippets, and it's not GSC
09:15 UTC — We're hearing more teams catch their rank tracker calling 'position 1' when Search Console shows the same URL at position 1 but with a chunk of clicks missing.
The tell: rank trackers report the URL's ranking slot. They often can't tell you whether that slot is wrapped in a featured snippet stealing the click, or a clean blue link.
— GSC won't label the snippet either, but the CTR collapse at 'position 1' is the fingerprint.
— Cross-reference: position 1 + abnormally low CTR = you're probably in a box that's answering for you.
Tactic: trust GSC's CTR anomaly over the tracker's green checkmark. Watching this.
