FAQ schema vs HowTo schema for the box — both got gutted, the workaround didn't
Unconfirmed but consistent across several accounts: teams still leaning on FAQ and HowTo rich results for snippet leverage are running on fumes since Google pared both back to near-zero visibility.
What still moves the answer box has nothing to do with that markup:
— Clean heading-to-answer proximity (the <h2> question sits directly above a tight answer).
— A definition-style first sentence that stands alone out of context.
The comparison that matters now: stop weighing FAQ vs HowSchema and start weighing question-shaped headings vs buried answers. Markup is decoration; the box reads your prose. Anyone still A/B-ing the schema flavors is optimizing a dead lever. Watching this.
