Exact-match anchor text internally or natural phrasing?
Q: For internal links, should the anchor be the exact keyword every time?
A: Short answer: descriptive and varied beats robotic exact-match.
Longer answer: internal links don't carry the same spam risk as backlinks, so you have room — but stuffing the identical exact keyword into every internal anchor looks engineered and flattens the context you could be giving. A descriptive anchor ('how we test budget mics for podcasts') tells Google and the reader far more about the destination than 'best podcast mic' pasted nine times. So vary the phrasing naturally while keeping the target topic obvious. Some exact-match is fine; a wall of it is a smell.
Write anchors a human would actually click, and the relevance signal takes care of itself.
