Scaling up: bigger budget vs more ad groups
When something works, there are two ways to grow it. Vertical scaling raises the budget on the winning ad group. Horizontal scaling copies the winner into new ad groups with new audiences.
When to use each:
— Vertical: when the winner has room to spend more without costs climbing.
— Horizontal: when raising budget makes results worse, a sign you've maxed that audience.
The tradeoff: vertical is simple but a big jump can reset the learning phase and spike your cost per result. Horizontal keeps each piece stable but takes more setup and management.
Try this: when raising a budget, go up by only 20-30% at a time and wait a few days. Don't worry if scaling feels scary — slow, small steps are exactly how careful pros grow a winner.
