Stick to content pillars or post whatever I feel?
Q: "Content pillars feel rigid. Can't I just post whatever's on my mind?"
Short answer: pillars to be understood, freeform to stay alive.
Content pillars (3 to 5 recurring themes you're known for) make you legible. After a few posts, people can finish the sentence "this account is about ___," which is exactly what gets you remembered and referred.
Fully freeform posting feels freer, but it confuses people about what you actually do, so the trust never compounds.
The fix isn't rigidity. Pick your pillars, then post freely within them. You still get to be spontaneous; you're just spontaneous on-topic. Most things on your mind probably fit a pillar anyway.
Try this today: name your 3 pillars, then sort your last 10 posts into them and spot the gaps.
