MISTAKE: Codes live only inside screenshots and images
Designers love a pretty offer card — but if the code, the terms, and the discount are baked into a JPEG, Google can't read them, and neither can the AI answer engines now quoting deal sites in their summaries. Your best offer is invisible to the systems deciding who gets cited.
The fix: Image is fine for the visual, but mirror the code, value, expiry, and terms as real HTML text and structured data (Offer schema with priceValidUntil). The screenshot is decoration; the text is what ranks and what gets quoted.
Why it matters: AI Overviews and chat assistants pull from machine-readable offer text. If yours is trapped in pixels, a competitor whose code is plain text gets the citation — and the click.
