Mistake: 60% of income from one program
Everyone finds their one golden program and goes all in. Then they cut the rate, get acquired, ban your traffic source, or shut the program — and your income halves overnight with zero notice.
The concentration risk nobody prices in:
— Programs change terms unilaterally. You have no contract leverage.
— A single policy email can zero out your biggest line item.
Fix: cap any single program at ~25% of recurring income. Keep at least 4-5 live programs across different vendors and categories, so no one decision-maker controls your livelihood. Treat every program as if it'll cut your rate next quarter — because the good ones eventually do.
Verdict: a one-program business isn't passive income, it's an unpaid contractor with no severance.
