Getting mentioned is step one. Many beginners celebrate, then leave that mention to gather dust — never turning it into a lasting benefit.

Think of it like winning a prize and forgetting to pick it up.

1. When an article publishes, check whether it links to your site. If not, politely email the reporter once, thanking them and offering your site as a source link for readers.
2. Save the published piece — it's proof you're a credible source for future pitches.
3. Mention it lightly in your next reply: "recently quoted in [outlet] on this topic."

A link request right after publication often lands, because you've just delivered value and you're fresh in their mind.

Try this today: Find one past mention with no link to you. Send one short, kind thank-you-and-ask email.
