You attached a PDF and your pitch vanished
Beginners sometimes pour effort into a designed one-pager or press kit and attach it. Reporters on deadline rarely open attachments — and some systems strip them entirely.
Think of it like mailing a beautifully wrapped gift to someone who only reads postcards.
1. Put the entire usable answer in the body of the message, as plain text.
2. Assume the reporter will never click anything.
3. If you must share a file, link to it as a backup, after the full text answer.
The easiest reply to act on wins. Plain text the reporter can read, quote, and copy on their phone beats any polished document they have to download.
Try this today: Open your last pitch. If the answer lived in an attachment, rewrite it so everything important sits in the message itself.
