Today's term: usage rights vs. license term
These sound like one thing. They're two.
— Usage rights = where the brand can run your content (their Instagram, paid ads, their website, billboards).
— License term = how long they can run it (30 days, 6 months, forever).
A brand can pay you once and run your video as a paid ad for 2 years. That's your face selling for them long after the post fades.
Simple example: $500 for the post. They add "paid ads, 12 months." That's a separate use, and it's worth more — maybe another $500-$1,000.
Your move: when you see "usage," ask two questions back — where, and for how long. Price each one.
