Broad vs detailed targeting: your creative does opposite jobs
A comparison most creative people skip, but it decides what you make.
— Detailed/interest targeting: the audience is pre-qualified, so the creative can be narrow and assumptive. Speak insider language, skip the explanation. 'If you run cold email, you know X.'
— Broad (let the algorithm sort): the creative IS the targeting. It has to self-select — the first line must repel the wrong people and grab the right ones, because nothing else is filtering.
With broad, a vague 'everyone benefits' hook is death. It needs a callout so specific it filters on its own.
⭐ Pick of the week: write a hook that names the exact person ('Founders under $1M ARR—'). On broad delivery, that callout does the targeting interest filters used to.
