□ 1. Speed input — trend hijack has a 24-72h window; if you can't ship in a day, skip it.
□ 2. Repeatability — evergreen templates (X-vs-Y, expectation-vs-reality) work any week and compound your recognizable style.
□ 3. Risk check — trends spike then die; evergreens give a stable reach floor. Run both.
□ 4. Ratio QA — aim ~30% trend hijacks, ~70% evergreen so a dead trend never zeroes your week.
