Mistake: dumping 50k pages live on day one
A single massive push spikes crawl demand, dilutes your perceived quality if a fraction are thin, and gives you no way to learn which template variant works. One bad batch poisons the whole set's reputation.
Staged-publish SOP:
— Step 1. Owner: SEO. Release in cohorts: 500, then 2k, then 10k, then the rest. Each cohort is a labeled batch.
— Step 2. Owner: SEO. Gate between cohorts: median indexation of the prior cohort >= 70 percent within 21 days before the next release.
— Step 3. Owner: data. If a cohort indexes poorly, hold the next release and diff the losing pages for the common defect.
— Step 4. Owner: dev. Tag every page with its cohort id so you can attribute index/traffic outcomes per batch.
Guardrail: publishing speed is throttled by the indexation rate of what you already shipped.
Ship gate: don't publish until all boxes are checked.
