Q: Native product tags or just dropping the link in a pinned comment — does it matter?

A: It matters more than people think.

Native product tags (clickable items attached to the post) keep the buyer in-platform and count as 'commerce engagement,' which some algorithms reward with extra reach. Downside: limited to catalog products, and the tag UI can feel cluttered.

Pinned-comment links are flexible — any URL, any offer, full tracking — but they leak traffic off-platform and the algorithm reads them as 'sending people away,' which can soft-cap distribution.

Use tags when the product is in your catalog and you want reach. Use pinned links for off-platform offers or anything you must track precisely.

Also worth knowing: 'link in comments' written in the caption itself can trip spam filters — phrase it naturally.
