Q: Platform commerce fees are eating my margin. Did anyone actually fix this without raising prices?

Q: Platform commerce fees are eating my margin. Did anyone actually fix this without raising prices?

A: A jewelry seller did the math instead of panicking. Between the platform's selling fee (~5%) and affiliate commissions (10%), a $20 item was losing roughly 15% off the top, leaving them thin. Rather than hiking the headline price and killing conversion, they raised free-shipping threshold from $25 to $40 and added a $6 single-item shipping charge below it. Average order value rose from $22 to $31, and the shipping recovery covered the fee bite without touching product prices.

The insight: fees are a fixed cost of being where the buyers are. You earn it back through basket size, not price hikes that scare buyers off.

Also worth knowing: model the all-in fee per order before you launch a creator program, not after.
