All-in-one platform vs a stack of point tools:
Ran Semrush solo for a month, then a stitched stack (Ahrefs + AccuRanker + Screaming Frog) on the same project.
All-in-one (Semrush)
➕ One login, one bill, projects link audits→keywords→tracking automatically
➕ Onboarding a junior takes a day, not a week
➖ Every individual tool is "good, not best" — its crawler isn't Frog
Point-tool stack
➕ Each tool is best-in-class at its one job
➕ Swap any piece without losing the others
➖ ~$400/mo combined, plus mental overhead of 3 dashboards
Best for: solo + small teams who value time → all-in-one. Agencies billing for precision → stack.
Price-vs-value: the stack costs 2-3x but the rank-tracker accuracy + crawl depth alone justified it for client deliverables in my case.
Pick all-in-one if you're a generalist who context-switches a lot. Skip the stack if no one's paying for the extra precision.
I pay for all of these myself.
