Geo Pulse #51 — The week we stop confusing IP with language
Theme: the GEO/language mismatch that quietly tanks Tier-1 funnels.
→ Targeting Switzerland by IP, serving one language. Switzerland is ~63% German, ~23% French, ~8% Italian. A single-language CH landing page is wrong for a third of your traffic. Fix: split by browser Accept-Language, not country.
→ Belgium, Canada, Finland — same trap. Canada by IP sends Quebec users to English pages. Detect language first, country second.
→ The clean rule. Country answers "what offer/currency/compliance." Language answers "what words." Treating them as one variable is the bug. Source: any localization team that's run a CH/CA test.
→ Quick audit. Pull your CH/BE/CA conversion by detected language. If one language block converts 40% below the rest, you found uncovered locales, not bad traffic.
