You put your money link in the third paragraph. Google already counted the first one — to your About page.
Controversial but: the first-link-counts behavior is real and most of you ignore it. When two links on a page point to the same URL, only the first anchor is reliably attributed. So when your nav links "Home" to the homepage and your body later links "affiliate marketing software" to it, guess which anchor wins? The useless one.
The fix: stop pointing two links at one URL on the same page, or make sure the first occurrence carries the anchor you actually want. Order is a ranking signal you're throwing away for free.
Who's auditing first-link order? Or are we all just hoping?
