The free checkbox a Shopify seller ignored for a year
A jewelry seller drove decent traffic from Pinterest but converted poorly — around 0.8% of clicks turned into sales. She blamed her prices.
A friend asked if she'd enabled rich pins. She hadn't. Validating her site took an afternoon; once live, her product pins pulled real-time price and availability straight onto the pin, with the bold metadata header that plain pins lack.
No new design, no new content. Over the next two months conversion on Pinterest traffic rose to ~1.6%, and pins that showed a price got noticeably more qualified clicks — people self-selected before leaving Pinterest.
Takeaway: rich pins are a one-time setup that pre-qualifies your traffic for free — if you sell anything, do this before you spend an hour on a single new design.
