Q: Why does last-click attribution feel like it's wasting my budget?

Q: Why does last-click attribution feel like it's wasting my budget?

Because last-click pays the affiliate who happened to be in front of the buyer at checkout — usually a coupon or loyalty site that added zero discovery work. You end up funding people who intercept demand others created.

The fix:

— Add a soft de-dupe window: if a content affiliate touched the user first, don't let a coupon site claim full commission inside, say, 24 hours.

— Pay coupon/loyalty placements a reduced rate (40-60%) versus content partners who drive new traffic.

— Watch your "coupon code added at checkout" rate. If it spikes, a partner is likely scraping your codes and skimming.

Caveat: don't over-engineer this on day one. With under ~50 active partners the bookkeeping isn't worth it — flat last-click is fine until you see the skim pattern in your data.
