Case: One CTA wording change lifted click-through 41%
A creator ended every video with "link's in the description." Click-through to the affiliate link sat at 3.2%.
We ran a controlled CTA test, one variable at a time:
Phase 1 — Baseline
— 4 videos, generic CTA, logged click-through
Phase 2 — Variant
— 4 videos: "Use code [X] at the first link — it's the [specific benefit]"
— Everything else held constant (length, topic, placement)
Phase 3 — Read
— Compared click-through across the 8 videos
Result: the specific-benefit CTA hit 4.5% vs 3.2% — a 41% lift. The win was naming the benefit and the code, not just "link below."
Decision rule: if a CTA doesn't name a code or a concrete benefit, then it's not done.
Definition of done:
— One variable changed per test
— Minimum 4 posts per arm
— Winner becomes the new default CTA
