The design team loved Webflow's visual interaction editor, fades, parallax, scroll triggers everywhere. The output bundled ~180KB of interaction JS that ran on every scroll, and mobile Total Blocking Time hit 600ms. A dev rebuilt the same effects with CSS transitions and a tiny scroll observer, ~4KB total. TBT dropped to 90ms, the mobile Lighthouse score went from 61 to 94. Visual animation tools generate heavy, generic code because they can't assume what you need. Hand-written effects are smaller because they know exactly one thing.
