Q: 'Our Product schema shows the wrong price in Google. Does it really hurt?'
Short answer: Yes — stale price/availability data triggers warnings and can drop you from rich results.
The longer version: A sporting-goods store had hardcoded prices and 'InStock' in their Product JSON-LD that didn't update with the live page. Search Console threw 1,200 'mismatched value' warnings, and Merchant-style enhancements quietly disappeared from their listings — they hadn't noticed traffic erosion of ~8% on product pages over two months. The fix: generate price, currency, and availability dynamically from the same source as the visible page, with priceValidUntil set properly. Warnings cleared in three weeks; rich-result eligibility returned, and the lost product-page traffic came back plus a little extra.
Rule of thumb: Schema must mirror the live page exactly. Hardcoded prices and availability are a slow leak — automate them from one source of truth.
