Q: After migrating from Universal Analytics our event counts looked wrong — what was missed?
A: A site ported its UA tags and saw button clicks at 1/10th the old volume. UA category/action/label didn't auto-map to GA4's parameter model:

Admin → Events → Create event: rebuilt each interaction as a named GA4 event

Mapped old labels into event parameters instead of a single action string

Verified each new event fired once in DebugView
Once events were re-modeled (not copy-pasted), tracked clicks returned to ~98% of the UA baseline. The 2% gap was bot traffic UA had counted but GA4's filtering excluded.
TL;DR: UA's category/action/label doesn't translate to GA4 events directly. Re-model interactions as named events with parameters to recover volume.
