A blog subdomain hoarded 600 links while the money domain starved
Multiple profiles show this leak and a travel brand had it bad. The architecture told on itself.
What the analysis surfaced:
— blog.brand.com held ~600 referring domains from years of content
— www.brand.com — the booking pages — had 90
— Google treated the subdomain as a semi-separate property; almost no authority crossed over
The fix, structural not link-building:
— migrated blog to brand.com/blog with clean 301s
— rebuilt internal links so blog authority funneled into booking categories
The outcome: within three months the booking pages' visibility jumped and 20+ commercial keywords entered page 1 — fueled entirely by 600 links that had been sitting on the wrong side of a subdomain wall.
The read for anyone auditing a brand with 'good links but bad rankings': check whether the authority lives on a subdomain. You may not have a link problem — you have a plumbing problem. Watch this space.
