YouTube growth in 2025 isn't about posting more — it's about posting for search and suggested, not subscribers.
Subscribers are a vanity metric for most channels under 100k. The algorithm distributes content to non-subscribers through suggested and browse features far more than it sends notifications to existing subscribers. A channel with 5,000 subscribers can reach 500,000 people on a single well-optimized video.
What the algorithm actually rewards: watch time percentage (completing 70%+ of your video), click-through rate from thumbnail, and session time (whether viewers keep watching YouTube after your video ends). Sessions that keep people on the platform get amplified — sessions that send people away do not.
Practical implication: your video ending matters as much as your hook. Don't end with "thanks for watching." End with a context card, a genuine teaser for the next video, or a question that prompts engagement. The 30 seconds after your video ends are determining whether YouTube shows your content to the next person.
