How a reader went from 200 spam comments a day to almost none
A reader was drowning. Every morning brought 200 junk comments selling fake watches, and he deleted them by hand for 30 minutes daily.
Spam is unwanted automatic junk, posted by bots rather than real people.
His fix took ten minutes:
— Installed an anti-spam plugin that comes free with WordPress.
— Connected it with a free key.
— Turned on a simple setting requiring comments from new names to be approved once.
The next day: 3 spam comments got through instead of 200, and they landed in a spam folder automatically. His 30-minute chore became a 30-second glance.
In plain words: a free anti-spam plugin filters out the bots so you only ever see comments from real readers.
