Moved blog from blog.site.com to site.com/blog/. Traffic +44%.

Client's blog lived on a subdomain. It ranked okay but in its own little authority bucket, disconnected from the main domain's link equity.

The migration:
— Moved all 420 posts to /blog/ on the main domain
— 301 every old subdomain URL, full mapping, no wildcards-to-homepage nonsense
— Wired posts into the main site's nav + relevant product pages

4 months: blog organic traffic +44%, and 30 posts that had hovered page 2 broke into the top 5 because they now inherited the root domain's authority.

Give it time. Subdomain-to-subfolder takes 2-3 months to fully settle. Don't panic at week 3 when it dips.
