Case file: a question as the opening frame
One creative opened on a black card with a single typed question, three seconds, then cut to the demo.
— Versus a standard product open, three-second hold rose from 25% to 39%.
— The question pre-qualified: lower volume of clicks, but cost per lead dropped 22% from better-fit traffic.
Why it works: a sharp yes/no question ("Still paying for software you opened twice?") makes the scroller answer in their head. Answering is engagement, and engagement is the foot in the door. The self-selection is a feature — you pay less to skip the wrong people. File under: hooks that make the viewer do a tiny bit of work.
