Case file: handwritten note beat the designed banner
A static-image test inside one campaign.
— Professionally designed promo banner: 0.8% click-through.
— Photo of a handwritten sticky note with the same offer, shot on a desk: 1.9% click-through.
— Same copy words, completely different presentation.
Why it works: a handwritten note doesn't pattern-match to "advertisement," so it slips past the scroll reflex. It looks like a message, not a campaign. Caveat from the data: it fatigues fast — three to four days before novelty wears off. Use it as a refresh injection, not a forever creative. File under: formats that borrow the look of personal, not promotional.
