Why might fewer links get more clicks?
A call to action is the one thing you want a reader to do, like "read the guide." Too many choices freeze people; one clear path moves them.
Why it matters: a blog's newsletter had 7 different links per email, and readers clicked almost none of them, overwhelmed.
Here's the cleanup:
— Step 1: picked the single most important action for that email
— Step 2: ✅ removed the other links and repeated one button twice
— Step 3: compared total clicks against the old crowded version
Result: clicks rose from 2.1% to 5.6%. Fewer options, but each one got real attention instead of being lost in the pile.
Tiny homework: look at your last email and count the links. Just the count.
