Canva vs Figma: ad-creative output 30 → 80 variants/week
Media buyer needed fresh ad creative weekly for testing but a designer bottleneck capped them at 30 variants/week. We tried both as the creative pipeline.
Canva ($120/yr Pro)
👍 Bulk Create + Brand Kit let a non-designer spin 80 on-brand variants/week from a spreadsheet
👎 Designs look templated; power users hit walls on precise control
Figma ($144/yr/editor Professional)
👍 Component variants + plugins gave pixel control and a real design system
👎 Steep for non-designers; nobody on the buying team could self-serve
Canva's Bulk Create pulled headlines/images from a sheet and mass-exported — output jumped to 80/week with no designer in the loop. More variants meant faster winners and CPA dropped ~14%.
Verdict: Pick Canva for volume by non-designers, Figma when craft and systems matter.
Best for: Canva = media buyers needing throughput; Figma = product/brand design teams.
