Adding a transcript that won 5 new carousel queries
Today's lesson: a video carousel — the scrollable video row — shows a video for more searches when Google understands every word inside it.
Real example: a language teacher's lesson video ranked for only one phrase. Google knew the title but nothing said in the video.
What she did:
1. Added a full transcript (the spoken words written out) below the video.
2. Broke it into chapters with clear labels.
3. Wrote a plain summary in the first description line.
Think of it like subtitles for a search engine that's a little hard of hearing.
Result: over 7 weeks the video began showing in the carousel for 5 new phrases like "how to say hello in Spanish," adding about 1,800 views.
Try this: paste a clean transcript under your newest video. 🎓
