Trimming a bloated menu to control sitelinks
Today's lesson: sitelinks — the extra links under your main result — usually come from your main menu, so a messy menu means messy sitelinks.
Real example: a consultant's brand search showed odd sitelinks like "Privacy Policy" and "Cart" instead of her services. Her menu had 18 links, many unimportant.
What she did:
1. Cut the top menu to 6 clear items (Services, Pricing, About, Cases, Blog, Contact).
2. Moved legal links to the footer.
3. Waited for Google to re-crawl.
Think of it like clearing junk off a shelf so the good products show.
Result: in about a month her sitelinks switched to Services and Pricing, and contact-page visits from brand search rose 17%.
Try this: count your top-menu links. If it's over 7, move the unimportant ones to the footer. 🎓
