The "never edit a post" rule, tested 50 times

The "never edit a post" rule, tested 50 times

Everyone says: "Edit a post after publishing and the algorithm buries it."

Someone got tired of the superstition and tested it: 25 posts edited within 10 minutes (typo fixes, a tightened hook), 25 left untouched. Logged 48-hour impressions on each.

The claim: any edit = reach death.

Edited posts averaged 2,150 impressions. Untouched: 2,090. The edited ones nudged ahead — because fixing a clunky first line actually helped.

Where the myth has a grain of truth: edits made an hour-plus in, after distribution settled, did nothing either way. So don't expect a late edit to revive a dead post. That's the real limit.

But "fix your typo within minutes" carries no measurable penalty. The fear is costing people clean posts.

The ghost in this rule is just a ghost.
