Today's lesson: the click that paid out 4 months later
New to recurring? Tracking is the boring part that quietly makes you money. A blogger used a program with a lifetime cookie — the program 'remembers' your referral for as long as that customer pays.
1. A reader clicked her link in January but didn't buy.
2. In May, that same person finally subscribed at $25/mo.
3. Because the cookie was lifetime, she still got credited — 25% = $6.25/mo, starting in May and repeating.
With a normal 30-day cookie, that click would have expired and she'd have earned nothing.
In plain English: a cookie is a little memory tag; a longer one means slow-deciding readers still count as yours.
Try today: open your program's terms and find the cookie length. Anything over 60 days is a real edge — note which of your programs has the longest.
