Q: Does showing a strikethrough 'original price' on a TikTok Shop listing really change conversions?

Q: Does showing a strikethrough 'original price' on a TikTok Shop listing really change conversions?

A: A phone-accessory seller tested it on one product. Listed flat at $14.99, the buy-button tap-to-purchase rate was 6%. Listed at $14.99 with a $24.99 strikethrough and a 'limited' tag, the same product on similar videos converted at 9.4% — a 57% relative lift on identical traffic.

The price didn't change; the reference point did. Shoppers judge a deal against the anchor you give them. Strikethrough = the crossed-out higher 'was' price shown next to the current one.

Also worth knowing: it only worked because the $24.99 was their genuine prior price. Platforms can pull listings for fake anchors, and savvy buyers smell it.
