Breadcrumbs that made messy URLs look tidy
Today's lesson: a breadcrumb — the little path under a result like Home › Shoes › Running — is a rich result that replaces the long ugly web address.
Real example: an online store showed raw links like site.com/p?id=88213 in search. They looked spammy, and clicks were low.
What they did:
1. Added breadcrumb schema (hidden code listing Home, Category, Product).
2. Made each step a real, clickable level of the site.
3. Tested it in the free Rich Results Test.
Think of it like a clear set of road signs instead of just a license-plate number.
Result: within a month results showed a clean Home › Shoes › Running path, and click rate on those pages rose 12%.
Try this: look at how your product pages appear in search and check if the path looks readable. 🎓
